Oshadhi: why we work with this brand

Two bottles of lavender with the same label differ threefold in price. What a label should carry, what sets Oshadhi apart, and what official representation means

Two bottles of lavender stand side by side, the labels almost identical, and the price differs threefold. Telling them apart by smell in a shop is hard, and by the label harder still: the law does not require it to carry everything that matters in aromatherapy. So the question of brand is not about prestige in our work. It is about whether we know what is actually inside.

Why the brand matters at all

An essential oil is easy to dilute. A drop of the real thing goes into a cheap carrier or a synthetic fragrance, and a bottle appears on the shelf that smells similar and costs three times less. In an aroma lamp the difference may pass unnoticed. For work with your state and for the skin it is fundamental.

The second reason is that the same plant yields different oil. Lavender from a mountain slope and lavender from a plain differ in composition, the way wines of one grape differ by place. Species, region and extraction method all matter in aromatherapy.

What a label should carry

  • The botanical name in Latin, not only the everyday one: Lavandula angustifolia is not the same as Lavandula latifolia
  • The country the raw material came from
  • The extraction method: steam distillation, cold pressing, extraction
  • A batch number and a shelf life
  • The words 100 percent essential oil, rather than fragrance oil or nature identical

A label missing some of this is not automatically a fake, but it is certainly less information than a selection needs.

One home check does exist. Put a drop on a sheet of white paper and leave it for a few hours. A pure essential oil evaporates and leaves a faint trace at most, while one cut with a vegetable carrier leaves a greasy stain that stays. The check is crude and replaces no laboratory, but it does show an outright substitution.

Why we work with Oshadhi

Oshadhi keeps oils by single plant variety and single place of origin instead of blending batches for a steady smell. For aromatherapy that matters more than an identical aroma year after year: we work with composition, not with a perfumery impression.

The range is wide, from single variety oils and house blends to hydrosols and carrier oils. The origin of every batch is known, and the quality is backed by certificates. That is the ground on which a meaningful selection becomes possible.

OilFusion is the official representative of Oshadhi in Latvia. For you that means something simple: the oil arrives through a direct chain rather than a resale of unclear origin, and any question about a batch has an answer.

What the range covers

  • Single variety essential oils, from familiar lavender to rare entries
  • Ready blends for one task: sleep, composure, a calm state
  • Hydrosols, a gentler form for the face and for children
  • Carrier oils for dilution: almond, jojoba, coconut

Hydrosols deserve a separate word, because few people know them. A hydrosol is the water left after steam distillation of a plant: it carries some of the same substances at a far lower concentration. It needs no dilution, it is gentler, and it suits places where an essential oil is too much: the face, children, sensitive skin.

Why a good oil cannot be cheap

The price comes from the raw material. A kilogram of rose oil takes tonnes of petals, a kilogram of lavender oil considerably less, and the gap in price between them follows from that. When a rare oil costs the same as an ordinary one, it is worth reading the label more closely.

Expensive does not mean necessary, though. An inexpensive oil that suits you often settles the task better than a rare entry from the top of the catalogue.

How to choose your first oil

Start with one task and one aroma. Sleep, composure, a calm state in the evening: each of those has simple and inexpensive options, and two weeks of regular use will tell you more than comparing descriptions.

If you would rather lean on a picture of your state than guess, there is the selection during a session. A Bio-Well scan shows what deserves attention, and your reaction to scent narrows the choice.

Where to start

Have a look at the catalogue if you already know your task. If the task sounds like tired and not sure why, starting with a session makes more sense.

Essential oils do not treat anything and do not replace what a doctor prescribes. This is work with how you feel day to day, not with illness.
